Brownies In A Jar

Everyone loves chocolate - so who wouldn’t love this cute brownie in a jar gift idea!

Ingredients

Jar Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups White Wings Plain Flour
  • ½ cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1 ½ cups Caster Sugar
  • 1 cup Walnuts, chopped
  • 120g Milk choc chips

Method

  1. To make jar filling: Using a funnel, add flour to base of jar, gently tap jar to let flour settle, almost level. Next, add your cocoa powder, followed by the caster sugar. Add your chopped walnuts, and finish off with your chocolate chip drops.
  2. To make brownies: Preheat oven to 180°C conventional or 160°C fan-forced. Grease and line a 22cm square cake tin with baking paper, allowing paper to overhang the edges of the pan.
  3. Melt 200g dark chocolate, 180g butter, ½ tsp coffee and ½ cup water in a saucepan over low heat until smooth.
  4. Pour ingredients of jar (sifted flour, cocoa, sugar, milk choc chips and walnuts) in a large mixing bowl. Add chocolate mixture and eggs, then stir well. Pour mixture into prepared tin.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes. Allow to cool in tin for 15 minutes before using the overhanging baking paper to lift out onto a wire cooling rack. Once cool, cut into 20 slices and dust with pure icing sugar.
